What qualities do you seek in a partner?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 15, 2007:
In my experience, I think it is very detrimental to have a list of qualities that someone must meet before you will date them. A person is not their habits or their job or their measurements.
Too many people have lists that make them immediately disqualify someone as a potential mate before they ever take the time to get to know them. I know some truly beautiful women that are single and I think it is because they are excluding many potential mates with their list of wants.
I speak from the experience of way too many years of dating that included personal ads and online encounters.
You can't give yourself the chance to see what a wonderful gift someone might be if you are too hung up on the wrapping.

I know this from personal experience.
I am so grateful that I overlooked the
wrapping and listened to the message
that told me to give him a chance.
It's been almost 4 years and we're still
going strong! we're getting married next year.
My comment was definitely from experience, too. The love of my life was disguised as a “good ol' country boy.”
